What do you associate with Christmas?According to ChatGPT gifts ranked first! We all know that receiving a gift can be tricky. From the ‘best surprise ever’-gift to the ‘you can’t be serious’-gift — everything is possible…In yesterday’s ‘brainfood for lunch’ Christmas edition we had a lively discussion about the question if ADHD is a gift.Did we find the answer? Not surprisingly, THE answer does not seem to exist. However, there is a beautiful variety of positive effects related to having ADHD. Fast thinking, problem solving,non-linear creativity, curiosity, energy and momentum, exceptional design capabilities, always wanting to learn, deep levels of knowledge in areas of interest, ability to connect dots between seemingly disparate ideas, become calm in emergency situations, understanding multiple perspectives, hyperfocusand empathy, just to name a few. It’s not only about the effects though. A fair combination of effects, environment (healthcare system, family and friends, work, society, expectations, values etc.) and individual (form of ADHD, mindset, nutrition, exercise etc.) does the trick! While there is no doubt that ADHD comes with a full load of challenges,-‘My thoughts fire all over the place’‘I tried to cope my whole life, but my coping skills were no longer working and I was not able to function. Meds were a game changer.’‘ADHD describes a different neurological structure. It is challenging to work and thrive in a neurotypical world.’-there are arguments that a more ability-oriented view could enrich the current treatment options.Link to ‘Silver linings of ADHD: a thematic analysis of adults’ positive experiences with living with ADHD’ (open access): https://lnkd.in/dkeUeaD5 Let me share some of yesterday’s thoughts:‘I wouldn’t be me without ADHD/Autism.’‘My daughter despairs at my doom boxes - I did not know it was an ADHD thing :-)'‘I think it’s important to recognize that neurodivergence can’t exist without nuance’‘Whilst I hate labels as there is a tendency to use them in a negative way, however, as said they do give you a flag to fly, a safety in numbers, a belonging’‘We all deserve to live our best lives!’Thanks so much for being part of such a wonderful community Dahl, Ilona, Jessica, John, Julia, Lauren, Lori, michael, Michael, Neely, Rita, Sandra, SedleighMuch still remains to be done to create a world celebrating all its diversity - neurodivergent AND neurotypical!‘What we need is respect and understanding of everyone.’Especially as we have lost a valuable member of our community. To cite my dear friend: ‘A verdant force of enlightened being, quiet rebellion, social leader, strong - Be more Barry we say’Gone too soon.#blueativity #blueativitybrainfood #brainfoodforlunch#empoweryourbrain#neurodiversity#adhd

Part 2 of the experiment.Asking chatgpt to compare the ADHD vs Dyslexia limitations as if they were two different set of cars.**Car 1: ADHD (Dynamic Racer)***Limitations:*1. **Impulsive Detours:** Tends to take impulsive detours, leading to distractions and difficulty maintaining a steady course of action.2. **Overheating:** The high-performance engine can sometimes lead to mental "overheating," causing frustration and burnout when energy levels aren't managed effectively.3. **Navigation Glitches:** The innovative navigation system might lead to unconventional solutions that don't always align with the situation, causing confusion.4. **Maintenance Challenges:** Requires consistent maintenance to manage the hyperactivity and ensure that energy is channeled positively.5. **Collision Risk:** Rapid acceleration and shifts in focus can sometimes result in collisions or overlooked details.**Car 2: Dyslexia (Reflective Cruiser)***Limitations:*1. **Reading Hurdles:** Encounters consistent difficulties with reading, spelling, and processing written information, leading to frustration and slower reading speeds.2. **Misinterpretation:** The unique gear system might cause misinterpretation of written text, leading to misunderstandings and confusion.3. **Slow Navigation:** Sometimes navigates slowly through written material due to the need to carefully process each word.4. **Maintenance Intensity:** Requires specific interventions and accommodations to manage reading challenges, which can be demanding for both the individual and educators.5. **Exclusion from Fast Lanes:** May feel excluded from fast-paced reading tasks or environments where quick processing is essential.Remember that these shortcomings are not exhaustive and individuals with ADHD and dyslexia can still lead fulfilling lives with appropriate support and strategies. It's crucial to approach both conditions with empathy, understanding, and a focus on helping individuals harness their strengths while addressing their challenges. Professional guidance and tailored interventions are important for managing these shortcomings effectively.#ai #chatgpt #madebydyslexia #madebyadhd #adhd #dyslexicthinking #dyslexiaawareness #adhdawareness #weareone
