Just a suggestion: watch a few minutes of the game on YouTube before buying. It's really widely loved and well reviewed; but the humor and style is not for everyone. I didn't like the game and regret buying it. But I can see how a lot of other people loved it.

I've had this for a couple years and haven't finished it. I just do not get the humor and don't find the game entertaining. I will never understand the love for this game.

Totally agree, I've put a couple hours in and it just didn't click for me at all.

Quote from Kung_Fucius : Don't watch too much. I think this is a game best played blind. Well, as blind as can be since it's pretty famous on the internet now. (I think this game is very, very funny.)
Yeah, this game is really designed to be played as blind as possible on the first playthrough. Any spoilers will ruin it. On the second playthrough is where you could use a walkthrough if you want to get the "true ending"...or the "evil" ending.

@ 2.50 it seems like an easy dice roll rather than spoilers imo. That being said, doesn't Steam still have like a one hour refund?

This game is geared to those that enjoyed old rpgs and most of all - Earthbound. $2.50 is absolutely worth it to chance if any of that applies to you. No spoilers but the core game philosophy challenges the way old school games handle random encounters, experience gain, combat, etc. Other interesting things - game made by a single person, including art and soundtrack. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. If you've been on the internet at all in the past 10+ years you've probably heard "Megalovania"

I was the same way until I saw someone show stuff close to the ending. I replayed it again and while the early game is tough the ending really pulls it all together. But until you get to that part it's a rough pill to swallow. But now that I get the story more, it's fun again.

Played the entire way through the game, enjoying it slightly waiting for it to get better and "wow" me, since I had heard such great things about it. After finishing it and being unimpressed, I went and looked at spoilers on the internet. I'll just say what I found out annoyed me even more about the game. I won't ever play it again. I feel like I was tricked into not playing it the way it was intended.
